The first ship of the United States Mail Steam Ship Company to make a voyage to Europe. The SS Susquehanna opened up business for this newly formed line on August 4 1920 after WWI. The Susquehanna began her life as the S.S. Rhein for the North German Lloyd Line in 1899.
The first units employed were all ex-German war spoils. Because of operating shortfalls the line would eventually become United States Lines and operated by the U.S. Shipping Board.
